My jump rings are made completely by me - hand coiled wire on hardened steel mandrels, then precision cut for perfectly flush cut rings. Tumbled with stainless steel shot to clean, harden and bring them to a beautiful shine makes them perfect for making chainmaille or to use however you like in your own handmade jewelry.
22g wire diameter: 0.644mm
The table below shows the approximate inner and outer diameter, aspect ratio, and approximate ring counts per troy ounce. Please note that the ring counts is calculated for sterling silver -- which is slightly heavier, so you'll probably receive more rings than these approximate ring counts.
wire gauge | approx. inner diameter (mandrel size in mm) |
approx. outer diameter |
aspect ratio |
approx. ring count per troy ounce |
---|---|---|---|---|
22g | 2.0 | 3.3 | 3.1 | 1112 |
2.5 | 3.8 | 3.9 | 936 | |
3.0 | 4.3 | 4.7 | 807 | |
3.5 | 4.8 | 5.4 | 710 | |
4.0 | 5.3 | 6.2 | 633 | |
4.5 | 5.8 | 7.0 | 572 | |
5.0 | 6.3 | 7.8 | 521 |
Inner diameter is the diameter of the mandrel, or steel rod that I coil the wire onto before cutting into rings. Some springback will occur, making the inner diameter of the ring slightly larger than the mandrel diameter. Inner and outer diameter may be +/- .2mm from these calculations.
